Carol Ann Wheeler was born in San Francisco, CA. She began playing violin at the age of ten. She tried playing as a bluegrass fiddler without success and then tried old tyme fiddling. She has been a great success for over 25 years. John Melnichuk helped her get started. Herman Johnson, Vivian Williams, and Joe Pacerewski all have influenced her. Carol is a graduate of San Hose State College.
Carol was the first woman to win the Oregon State Fiddling Championship title. She has won the Northwest Championship twice and Ladies Championship twice each, plus numerous other titles. She is a respected fiddle contest judge, teaches workshops, has many albums, and has fiddle books published by Mel Bay Publishing.
